Advertising Federation Of America - AFA
Not to be confused with the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the AFA was one of AAF's predecessors. Dating back to 1905, with a regional focus on the East Coast of the U.S., the AFA intended to uphold and advance standards and rights for members of the advertising industry.
In 1966, the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL) announced that they would merge. So, in 1967, as all great advertising minds do, the AFA and its West Coast peer (the Advertising Association of the West) copied the football leagues' idea and announced that they would merge, creating the aforementioned AAF.
