American Shares

Securities that represent ownership in a foreign firm, issued in the U.S., by someone acting on behalf of the foreign firm. Because of the costs and effort involved in creating and selling them, these shares are limited in supply and, therefore, priced at a premium.

Ecuadorian Aussie, Julian Assange, would like to raise money from U.S. investors to grow his Wikileaks empire. Alas, he is a bit tied up at the moment and stepping foot outside of Ecuador’s embassy in London would likely land him in prison. Luckily for Julian, Wikileaks could issue American Shares thru a transfer agent (who is allowed out to play) and raise the funds that way.
