Annual Convention Blank
Categories: Insurance, Regulations, Banking
It’s a fact universally accepted that insurance companies love paperwork. (Don't they get paid per pound?) This goes for the paperwork they give their clients. But it also goes for the paperwork they have to do themselves. The annual convention blank is a prime example.
The annual convention blank is the form each insurance company must file with state regulators each year. (What could generate more paperwork than an interaction between an insurance company and the government? Bureaucratic heaven!)
The filing contains a large amount of pertinent information about the company. It includes information about the firm's reserves, its major employees and its finances. The goal of the document is to prove to authorities that the insurance company is capable of shouldering the financial burdens...basically that it has the wherewithal to keep up with its obligations.
