Yes, it is as nerdy as it sounds.
Bioinformatics is a nerdy dance party of computer science, molecular biology, and engineering, among other nerd-worthy subjects. In other words: it’s using the computational power of computers with the information of biology and engineering stuffs.
If you’re thinking, “that sounds a lot like the Human Genome Project,” then congratulations for knowing about the bioinformatics project that made the complete genetic blueprint of a human being available.
The Human Genome Project brought bioinformatics out of the nerdy underground and into the mainstream (as much as it can be, anyway). Bioinformatics can be used to help us study genes, gene changes, and what happens to the body when you give it drugs.
