Just like a doctor would never be seen without a stethoscope, a Bloomberg terminal is almost a necessity if you are working in the finance industry. It runs on a Windows-based program that’s compatible with the all-important Excel, but the keyboard is unique. The function keys have been replaced with labels of debt, equity, currency markets, etc. that are color-coded in yellow, green, and red. The capabilities of the terminal are almost too numerous to mention. But, uh...we'll try.
One can get up-to-the minute financial news, any information on a particular stock, foreign currency exchange rates, corporate and municipal bond prices and ratings, option valuation models, and a customizable swap management program. Colleges and universities offer training on the Bloomberg terminal to future Wall Street titans and other business majors.
