In this sense, "mass" refers to "lots." Like...14 million Pez dispensers made in a day, by robots, via three tons of plastic.
Mass is millions. Mass is "so many that if 17 of these fell off a delivery truck, we still wouldn't even notice." Mass is also all about scale economics...by virtue of producing so many of a thing that the cost of each individual items is just, um, ungodly cheap.
