Context

This line is spoken by Oda Mae Brown, played by Whoopi Goldberg, in the film Ghost, directed by Jerry Zucker (1990).

Things aren't easy when you're a ghost—at least, that's what Sam finds out after he's murdered. He may be dead, but the guy has way bigger problems. He needs to warn his wife, Molly, that she's in a whole lot of trouble. It seems the same guys that killed him are after her, too (yikes).

Enter Oda Mae Brown. Though Oda Mae has been posing as a psychic for years, she's never actually been able to communicate with the dead...until she runs into Sam. Once Sam finds a living person to help him, he harasses Oda Mae until she agrees to go see Molly and warn her about what's coming. She's not especially thrilled about it.

The situation is pretty dire, so Sam also doesn't feel like he has time to waste. He explains to Oda Mae that she needs to tell Molly exactly what he says—word for word. But, Oda Mae can't help putting her own spin on Sam's words. She looks right at Molly and delivers the bad news—"Molly, you in danger, girl."

Whoopi Goldberg actually won an Academy Award for her role in this movie, so we've gotta admire her performance in this scene. It's one part exasperation and one part straight talk. She has something to say and she's gonna say it her way. Maybe that's the reason we liked Oda Mae from the first moment we meet her.

This quote is one part dire warning and one part sass, which makes it the perfect thing to say to anyone who's heading toward trouble. We say it a lot while we're watching Game of Thrones, personally.
