Alex (Malcolm McDowell)’s Timeline and Summary

Alex drinks milk and commits a variety of crimes.
After murdering a woman, Alex is arrested and sent to jail.
In jail, he learns about a technique that can help him get released sooner.
He is excited to be chosen for it.
He is injected with a chemical and forced to watch violent films.
After repeated viewings, Alex gets sick whenever he thinks violent thoughts.
He is released, but his parents have rented out his room.
He wanders the streets, and people he was violent to in the past take revenge on him.
An author, not realizing that Alex once beat him and raped his wife, takes him in.
But the author realizes who Alex is when Alex sings "Singin' in the Rain."
The author uses Beethoven, whose music Alex has inadvertently been conditioned against, to drive him to suicide.
However, Alex survives, and the procedure is reversed.
The government, wanting good press, offers Alex a job, and he accepts.
He is able to enjoy Beethoven again. He says he is cured.
