The Priest's Favorite Movie
A Man for All Seasons doesn't have a massive cult fandom the way, say, Pulp Fiction or Star Wars does. Nobody is turning heads in their Thomas More Halloween costume.
But, it still has lots of fans today… which is impressive for a movie from the early 1960s. Given that it deals with a Catholic martyr, it's clear from looking at Youtube that a ton of priests love this movie.
For instance, Father VictorFeltes has a lot to say about the movie, translating the Latin dialogue between Margaret More and Henry VIII in the process.
And so does this priest, Father Barro, who comments on pop culture in various Youtube videos in a scholarly way, and says A Man for All Seasons is his fave.
But you don't need to be a clergy-person in order to be a fan—as covered in our "In a Nutshell" section, filmmaker Kevin Smith (who made Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) loves this movie too, as made clear in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes.
