- It's later that night. Prior I and Prior are staring at each other.
- The ghost is wearing robes and he has a bundle of palm leaves.
- Prior I asks Prior if he's excited. Tonight's the night – the messenger is supposed to come right through the roof.
- Prior II appears, chanting the names of the messenger: "Lumen! Phosphor! Fluor! Candle!" (3.6.3)
- Prior holds up a crucifix and garlic and stuff like that to try to scare away the ghosts. They don't pay him any attention.
- Prior I notes that Prior is getting an erection. Prior II says they all get hard when beings like the messenger are near.
- OK, now it's time to dance, says Prior I.
- Prior is not into it.
- Prior II surmises that Prior must want someone familiar to dance with. The ghost tells Prior to close his eyes and imagine someone.
- Louis appears and asks Prior to dance.
- Prior says his leg hurts too badly and asks Louis if he's a ghost.
- "No. Just spectral. Lost to myself. Sitting all day on cold park benches. Wishing I could be with you. Dance with me, babe... " (3.6.21).
- They dance to beautiful music.
- Prior I grumpily vanishes, saying he's done his part.
- Before vanishing himself, Prior II says, "The twentieth century. Oh dear, the world has gotten so terribly, terribly old" (3.6.27).
- Louis and Prior happily waltz.
- Lights fade and Louis vanishes.
- Prior waltzes by himself.
- Suddenly there's the sound of wings.
