• Mirah tries to drown herself, but Daniel intervenes and takes her to live with the Meyricks.
• She introduces herself to the Meyricks as Mirah Lapidoth and tells them that she escaped from Prague and is in London to find her mother and brother.
• Mirah tells the Meyricks her personal history. Here it is:
• When Mirah was six, her dad took her away from her mom and brother under the pretense of going on a special trip. The next thing she knew, they were in America.
• Mirah's dad told her that her mom and brother were dead.
• When Mirah was nine, her dad made her begin a career on the stage. She hated singing for other people.
• One day, Mirah's dad was arrested. He gave her the address of a Count who could help her get her dad out of prison.
• This man had other things in mind for Mirah. When Mirah's dad got out of prison, he told her that she had to marry the Count. Mirah ran away to Dresden. By the time she got to London, she realized that nobody could help her find her family's old house. She started thinking about suicide.
• Mirah loves living with the Meyricks. Daniel comes to visit a lot.
• Mirah sings for Klesmer, who praises her and tells her she should start singing for private parties, including one that he's throwing at his place.
• Mirah sings at a party at Sir Hugo's place.
• Gwendolen and Mirah start chatting.
• Mordecai and Mirah reunite. Mirah promises to take care of him.
• Gwendolen goes to visit Mirah and asks her to sing at an upcoming party. She makes a few comments that make Mirah really mad.
• Mirah tells Mrs. Meyrick she thinks she's seen her father and asks for advice.
• Mirah realizes she's in love with Daniel.
• One day when she's walking home, Mirah realizes that someone is following her. It's her dad
• Daniel proposes to Mirah.
• Mirah and Daniel get married.
• Mirah and Daniel comfort Mordecai and are with him when he dies.
