Mr. Spizz

There's no doubt that The Bad Guy is Mr. Spizz. He's annoying. He's super nosy and is always all up in everyone's business. He makes fun of poor Miss Volker's arthritic hands, calling them "crab claws" (10.33). Plus, we get an early bit of foreshadowing when Jack's Dad says: "One of these days he'll flip his lid and hurt someone" (3.24). And that's precisely what he does. Not to mention, he hurts the whole community of Norvelt by undermining the communitarian principles it was founded on.
