- Jean Louise doesn't care what the people of Maycomb think, and anyway, she tells Alexandra, she was swimming with her clothes on.
- Clothes or no clothes, Alexandra doesn't think this conduct is becoming of a lady.
- They sit down for breakfast, and Atticus, who doesn't seem to care about the rumor either, tells Jean Louise to get ready for church.
- The family meets Uncle Jack, a.k.a. Dr. John Hale Finch, at church.
- News travels fast: he's heard of the alleged skinny dip, too.
- Jean Louise glares at him, and into the church they go.
