Who knew the author of a New Testament book would agree with Tupac about something? But he goes: only God can judge.
And throughout the Epistle to the Hebrews, God comes off as pretty judgmental. Of course, the author is clear that God's not trying to be a meanie—he's actually good and just and loving. (Fancy that!)
Judgment and love? Sounds pretty biblical to us.
Questions About Justice and Judgment
- People aren't supposed to judge each other, right? What gives God a license to judge everyone and everything?
- How does the image of a judgmental God fit in with other New Testament books? How about other Hebrew Bible books?
- Is God a big meanie for judging everyone? Or is he just trying to help the world?
