The Odyssey
Homer's Odyssey is one of the greatest works of literature. It tells the story of the famous Greek hero Odysseus and his ten-year journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Although no one assigns Odysseus a specific list of tasks like Heracles got, he still encounters countless hurdles and obstacles including a god who hates him (Poseidon, not Hera), sirens, monsters, violent storms, amnesia, Cyclopses, dangerous sorceresses, and more. The gods battle each other as they seek to protect or destroy Odysseus. Eventually, the great hero is able to return home, but he certainly has to work for it.
