Character Role Analysis

El Patrón

El Patrón, the original Matteo Alacrán, is a very tricky character. There are definitely moments where he's likable, even kind. But the sad fact is he's driven by power and greed, and that makes him villain number one. He likes making people around him miserable, and he'll do anything to get what he wants, no matter who he steps on, hurts, or kills. He's a dangerous dictator, and Matt must escape him in order to come into his own. While this novel features lots of bad guys, El Patrón is the supervillain of the story – the one who causes the most problems and poses the strongest threat to our protagonist and his friends.
