The Hurt Locker Scene 21 Summary

  • Days left in Bravo Company's rotation: 2. We're so close...
  • Ugh, but here we go again: Will is arriving at the scene of, yes, you guessed it, another tense situation.
  • A guy came to a military checkpoint claiming he had a bomb attached to his body that he wanted them to take off.
  • The guys are convinced that it's a trap. Sanborn wants to shoot the guy and get out of there...but Will, of course, wants to try to disarm the bomb without hurting the guy, if possible.
  • The guys have a translator there communicating with the guy with the bomb. Via the translator, the guy relays that the bomb may have a timer.
  • It's all very chaotic since the guy with the bomb is freaking out and not really following instructions.
  • However, Will finally gets the dude to comply, and he gets a look at the bomb.
  • Bad news: the bomb does have a timer and tons of wires, and it's actually padlocked to the guy.
  • The guys have two minutes before the bomb goes off, and Will is trying to clip the lock with the clippers Sanborn has brought to him.
  • Will gets one lock off, but there are multiple locks, and he knows he can't get the bomb off the guy in time.
  • Will apologizes to the guy—but, of course, the guy doesn't really understand what he's saying.
  • Will runs since the bomb is a few seconds from detonation.
  • The guy knows then that he's not going to get out of this situation and appears to utter a prayer to the sky.
