These characters in this story are prim and proper Brits, so there's nothing too steamy going on here. They're mostly focused on taking their tea, and how sexy can tea get, after all? Nevertheless, there are definitely some sexual preoccupations going on. Think of the married man, for instance—he's pretty focused on that girl, Lily, who he could have married. Or, look at the awkward young couple. They are new at romance and a bit uncertain about how to proceed, but beneath the surface, there is a lot of brewing desire, especially on the part of the young man who is impatient and eager to "bear her on."
