Magua

This has been covered in Magua's "Character Analysis," but we'll reiterate that Magua has all of the classic bad-guy qualities: he kidnaps the women (not once, but twice!), he tries to murder our heroes, and he tries to manipulate the tide of popular opinion in his favor.

Where Magua falls short as the classic bad guy, however, is that we sympathize with his lonely plight, and, judging from his inability to murder Cora, he does have a bit of a heart. That heart, however, is more than a couple of sizes too small.
