Exactly how steamy is this story?

The only steam in this book is coming out of Mary Johnson's ears when she catches wind of her daughter's sordid behavior. That said, there are references to prostitutes and women with too much make-up and all sorts of tawdry behavior (for the era, anyway), so PG it is.
