Mr. Holroyd

Character Analysis

He's a big shot American silver and steel tycoon who lives in San Francisco. He and Charles Gould are in business together. Toward the end of the novel, his Holroyd Missionary Fund is responsible for the spread of Protestantism in the new Occidental state. He's your average ugly American stereotype: a big dude who basically yells "U.S.A! U.S.A!" and who we imagine wears this on a regular basis.
