Abdiel

Abdiel is incredibly important as a foil for Satan, the rebel angels, and Adam. In Book 6, he turns his back on the council that is planning war against God. Milton describes him as one who has kept the "cause/ Of Truth" (6.31-32), which makes him almost the exact opposite of Satan and company, and, to a lesser extent, Adam.
