Character Analysis
We don’t get to know Mr. Bantling (soon to be Mr. Stackpole, in our minds) very well, but he generally appears to be… exactly what he appears to be. That is, he’s a jolly, earnest, happy-go-lucky British fellow, located somewhere in the upper classes. We have to trust Henrietta’s judgment on this one – she hasn’t led us astray so far, so we believe her when she says that he’s altogether delightful. The most intriguing thing about him is the fact that he convinced Henrietta, the inveterate single working gal, to settle down (in England!) and get married – how did he do it? The world will never know.
