Eustacia Clementine

Character Analysis

Eustacia Clementine is the name that Thomasin gives her baby daughter, though the name is hardly ever used in the book. Thomasin generally refers to the kid as "baby." This might be because Clym was not thrilled about the name choice (though we're guessing he didn't mention this to Thomasin). Clym felt that his "unhappy marriage" would live on in the child's name (5.3.77).
