Who is the narrator, can she or he read minds, and, more importantly, can we trust her or him?
Third Person Omniscient
Or maybe it's third person "Om"niscient?
Although the novel centers on Siddhartha, we occasionally hear the thoughts of other characters. This third-person perspective lends a more distant, descriptive quality to the narration. We, the readers, are not immediately involved in the action, which allows us to view Siddhartha as an allegory that transmits abstract concepts.
