There are scenes from this book that you shouldn't read aloud to your five-year-old cousin, but not a single one of them involves any sexytimes.
Birdy doesn't have a girlfriend (the guy kind of has more important things on his mind), and while he likes Marla, he jumps from not saying anything about it to telling her he loves her in the final chapter.
Marla responds by saying,
"Birdy, when people shoot at you… you automatically love everybody that's ducking down with you." (15.41)
Yeah. That's not exactly a "bow-chicka-bow-bow" moment.
