The Egypt Game Chapter 16 Summary

The Oracle of Thoth

  • Next, the kids learn about oracles. In ancient Egypt, that was a person or group who was turned to for wise advice or even predictions about the future.
  • They decide that they're going to create an oracle for their game. They have to figure out how to leave messages for the oracle to respond.
  • They create an altar for Thoth, the Egyptian god of wisdom, and place a fake owl on it. They'll write down questions and leave them there for Thoth to answer.
  • If anything can magically answer questions it's got to be an owl, right?
