The Luminaries Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

PG-13

The novel is written in a Victorian style, so it's not exactly Fifty Shades of Grey. However, one of our main characters is a member of the world's oldest profession, and so Anna's morality and "extracurriculars" get a decent amount of airtime. Also, Lydia Wells's career as a madam comes up quite a bit.

Beyond that, there's murder, some bleeped out cussing (but you can tell what the characters are trying to say!), and other nastiness, so we'll give this a PG-13.
