Character Role Analysis

Leo Finkle

Leo instigates the action of this story when "he called in Pinye Salzman, a marriage broker whose two-line advertisement he had read in the Forward" (1). We also focus entirely on his search for a true love. He's the guy we're rooting for, he's the guy we see in every scene, and he's the guy who ultimately/possibly/maybe/actually finds love in the end.

Leo Finkle, we hereby dub you Protagonist of "The Magic Barrel." Bring honor to thy title!
