• They paid the captain who left them there and said he would return for them, but he didn't.
• Instead, Felipe and Truxill die in a boating accident.
• Hunilla is pregnant, but her baby is stillborn.
• A passing ship lands, and she is raped by the sailors.
• Melville's ship finds her, and takes her aboard at last.
