The Raven Boys Prologue Summary

  • It seems that Blue Sargent—our main character—comes from a family that's able to tell the future… well, kind of. They give people predictions with their clairvoyance, even though the predictions can be pretty vague.
  • However, there's one prediction that's never vague: Blue will kill her true love. Needless to say, it's a huge bummer.
  • Even though Blue doesn't want it to be true, she knows better; the ladies in her family are ridiculously good at telling the future, even if their predictions are usually unspecific.
  • To avoid her awful fate, Blue decides that she'll never fall in love. But this is tested when she turns sixteen, and her Aunt Neeve—who is publicly famous as a psychic—comes to visit.
  • Aunt Neeve tells Blue that there's no use: This is the year that she'll fall in love. Oh, great.
