Exactly how steamy is this story?

A teakettle produces way more steam than this book. There's a scene in the second half of the novel when Amory's close friend Alec hires a prostitute. But the book doesn't give any gossip about the sexytimes—we know that Alec is with a lady of the night, but we don't get the dirty deets.
And that's indicative of how this novel approaches sex in general. This Side of Paradise is about a teenaged dude growing up—you better believe there are some hormones a-raging—but the book is always very buttoned-up when it comes to detailing any rolls in the hay.
