Character Analysis
Cowley is something of a spoiled priest. He has drifted away from the callings of his vocation, but not enough to be excommunicated by the church and not enough to request a release from his vows. Cowley owes debts to Reuben J. Dodd, and is complaining to Simon Dedalus of it in the opening of "Sirens." Later, he sings songs with Dedalus and Ben Dollard, particularly a brief bit from Don Giovanni.
