- Meet Jack Gladney, the chair of Hitler Studies at a quaint American university called the College-on-the-Hill. At the beginning of each school year, Jack likes to watch all the parents coming to drop their kids off in station wagons. Jack takes a sort of religious satisfaction in the ritual ofit all. (For those of you who don't know what a station wagon is, these things were everywhere in the 80s and early 90s.)
