John Holbrook meets Kit on the Dolphin.
He meets Judith in front of the Meeting House with Kit.
John visits the Wood house for dinner with Dr. Bulkeley and continues visiting the Wood family; Judith mistakenly thinks he is courting her.
John reveals to Kit his intention of asking Mercy to marry him.
John is bullied into an engagement with Judith.
He breaks with Dr. Bulkeley by joining the militia, then heads to Massachusetts to fight off Indian attacks.
