All right, so the word reprieve means a delay or moment of relief,
- 00:21
like when you get a reprieve from the summer heat
- 00:23
by turning on the air conditioner.
- 00:25
Let's start with A - scold and D - conviction.
- 00:28
Well, scold means to reprimand or criticize, like when you're
- 00:31
scolded for not doing your chores.
- 00:33
Conviction means kind of the same thing, just more official,
- 00:36
like when you're convicted of a crime that you committed.
- 00:38
But both these are antonyms, the opposite of the word reprieve.
- 00:42
Then there's C - capture, which means to take someone
- 00:44
prisoner, but that happens way before you'd be given a reprieve.
- 00:48
Just ask ISIS.
- 00:49
Which leaves us with B - postponement.
- 00:52
If a court grants a criminal a reprieve, it means
- 00:54
his punishment has been postponed.
- 00:56
So the correct answer is B - postponement.
- 00:58
But, remember, it's only temporary. You can't outrun your crimes forever.
