Glory
This is one job where there's glory galore. If contributing to our species' understanding (and eventually, rulership?) of the universe isn't enough, how would you like a Nobel Prize? Yep, you heard us right—astrophysicists are routinely among those to receive the topmost honor for their work advancing the field of physics (source).
And even if you're not so amazingly and uniquely brilliant as to revolutionize human knowledge and win a Nobel, there's a lot of satisfaction to be had in so-called "average" astrophysics work. Between teaching, keeping up on the latest astounding discoveries about space, and your own research (which, even if it's "average," is unlikely to be boring), astrophysicists find plenty of glory in their day-to-day.
