It's not hard if you have all the right qualifications. If you have the right attitude, a good mindset, a smile on your face, a can-do spirit...and a formal automotive education, you shouldn't have any trouble at all getting hired at a dealership or an independent shop.
If you're overly confident in how well you taught yourself to fix cars and you have a knack for entrepreneurialism, you can always start your own business. Fourteen percent of all auto mechanics are self-employed, so it can be done...sometimes (source). But take it from us: Get the training no matter what. You can never be too prepared.
