It’s not if you’ll get hurt, its when. But it’s the degree of the injury that you have to worry about. Stress injuries, torn ligaments, fractures, concussions—there are any number of things that can and will happen to you if you're an athlete at any level. You just better hope that none of them are the career ending kind that pull the plug on your dreams and your paycheck.
Seriously, the threat of injury is real. There are no fewer than 30 websites out there devoted to tracking player injuries, the severity, and the odds of them getting better or being forced to retire. That alone should tell you something. They’ll even be betting on your return or demise over in Vegas. Something to surely make you feel all warm and fuzzy about.
