Glory
There's a lot of glory in being able to manipulate raw steel, but one cannot live on fire and iron alone. To achieve maximum glory, blacksmiths must master their craft to land large commissions.
Imagine walking down the street with someone, stopping every three minutes to point out the work you did on every historical building, home, park, and museum you pass. Sure, not many people are going to go on walks with you a second time, but man, it must feel great knowing you've had such a visual impact on the world around you.
