Shockingly, we didn't see too many kids dressed up as rhododendrons for Halloween this year, even though they're the state flower in both Washington and West Virginia.
Unfortunately, there's not much love for plants and flowers, except on Valentine's Day or at prom, unless getting chopped off and slapped onto the wrist of an antsy date counts as getting love.
Remember, plants are usually more famous than their plant-junkie scientist friends, the botanists. You've heard of the rose (duh), the Venus fly-trap (it eats and eats and eats), Christmas trees, Frankenfoods (including genetically re-jiggered food plants). But we'll bet you haven't heard of the botanists who nurtured or invented (Frankenfoods again) said aforementioned plant life.
Nope.
Nor will you.
Botanists and fame.
Nope.
