If you're not in a union, you're looking at around eight bucks an hour. Maybe more over time. But not much more. Buck the odds and make head cashier, and that rate might go up to nine dollars an hour (source). You're in the money.
If you're in a union, however, you might actually be able to survive without having to sell your internal organs to make rent. At fifteen or twenty bucks an hour, give or take, you could be looking at $35,000-$40,000 annually (source). If you're in a decent union, you'll get a retirement pension and a few other perks as well.
When you're handling all that money every day, it can be tempting to try the "one for them, one for me" trick, but we wouldn't advise it. There are people who are paid to keep tabs on stuff like that.
