20-Year Prospect
Yes, this job will be around in twenty years. You didn't think otherwise, did you?
Seriously, look at all the people out there talking about how awesome writing code is and how important it is for our chilluns to love coding the way they love Slurpees and Angry Birds.
You've got Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, amongst others, proselytizing over at code.org, a non-profit that believes "every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science." You've got the President of the United States asking Americans to get interested in coding.
Either the folks in power are really, really, really sure that coding is essential to the future of the United States and the American people...or Silicon Valley is secretly looking for an overwhelming wave of coders to show up in about ten years so companies can hire intelligent and talented young programmers on the cheap.
We're not cynical at all.
