Odds of Hanging On
If you don't get discouraged on your uphill climb to being a manager, there's no reason you can't stay in this career for years to come. Once you make it, there are some marginal benefits, such as an additional ten grand if you've been working at the bank for ten years (source).
However, ten years is a long time to stay in a job if it feels like you don't have much chance of going anywhere. You'll have to really want that manager's badge to hang on long enough to get it.
