You're not going to be interviewed on television. Pretty close to nothing you do will make the newspapers. Even your school's PTA will only remember your name because you're wearing a nametag at the meetings. But the kids will know you.

The thing about the school counselor and other on-site educational psychologists is that you operate in a sort of facultarian limbo. 

You're not a teacher, so students don't ever have to worry about failing your class or turning in late homework. You're not an administrator, but the administrators will take your word as you're the one speaking for the kids. And while you definitely have the power to give detention, it's more likely that you're going to be stuck in detention with them.

If you're good at your job, you'll be a quasi-celebrity on campus. And isn't the relationship you have with the students the whole point of this adventure?
