Missionaries are often found working on their own in remote places. So you won't have to worry about following the boss' orders like you would if you were working a 9-to-5 office job. And you definitely have some power and authority in whatever place you're living, if only on the basis of being a foreigner. That said, when it comes to the actual work you're trying to do, you might be surprised at how powerless you feel. If the people you're trying to convert don't want to listen to you, then there's not much you can do.
