Odds of Getting In
Thanks to advancements in technology and method, jobs in the forensic sciences are expected to grow by an impressive 27% in the next ten years or so, a rate considered much faster than average for other fields. But while that may, at first, sound like great news to potential job seekers, the fact of the matter is that amidst the utter bombardment of the U.S. populace by CSI television shows, competition is growing even faster (source).
As with many careers sporting the word "science" in the job description, the jobs are going to go to the most educated applicants. So while that two-year program might sound attractive in the short term, it won't mean anything if it doesn't turn into a job once you graduate.
