Fame
Members of the helping professions, including social workers, have generally chosen a human services career because they genuinely want to help people change their lives for the better. Speaking specifically of hospice social workers, each of these compassionate professionals has put their patients' and families' needs ahead of the social worker's own discomfort.
Hospice social workers willingly put themselves into the midst of gut-wrenching family crises and conflicts because they truly want to make a difficult time just a little easier. This generous attitude is so diametrically opposed to a self-centered, fame-seeking mindset that it's like asking Santa Claus to deliver Easter eggs.
In other words, fame and hospice social workers just don't mix.
