Let's admit something right now: our ancestors were far tougher than most people today. The hunter/trapper may be an exception to that. Knowing you could survive without a lot of the modern conveniences that most people depend on is kind of glorious when you think about it.
Someone with your skills is ready to survive and thrive in a large-scale disaster that would have most of us crying uncle after a few hours. Look, it's not fun to think about a hurricane or a terrorist attack or anything else that could temporarily limit your access to safe food. But that kind of stuff can happen. And sometimes it does.
