Power
Okay, so an HVACR technician or contractor isn't going to influence international peace or broker a deal between Yankees and Red Sox fans, but what they do is important, and therefore powerful, to the communities they serve.
Contractors design systems to fit the use of a building. That's kind of a big deal. Have you ever been in a restaurant where the dining area feels like January at the North Pole? How about a library that's sweltering in the middle of summer? When the wrong HVACR system is in place, things can get mighty uncomfortable—and when this happens, people have an unpleasant experience, making them less likely to revisit a restaurant or other place.
So will you be saving the world? No. But you'll be keeping people comfortable and helping businesses make sure their customers leave happy.
If saving energy's your thing, you should also know that HVACR experts can save plenty of power, particularly in large, multipurpose buildings. Civic centers, schools, colleges, and hospitals use tons of electricity, and thoughtful and efficient HVACR systems can help curb this consumption. Just like pennies, energy saved is energy earned...or something like that.
